The 2012 Home Again calendar is hitting local stores this wecats shopek just in time to help holiday gift hunters shop locally while supporting our furry friends.
The calendar, with photographs by Gail Burstyn, features great shots of animals that have been rescued by Home Again.
Once you look into an animals eyes youre connected to them, Burstyn says. Shes perched on a chair in the Bancroft This Week office with her dog Lily doing tricks at her feet and a new rescue, Lily 2, cuddling on her lap.
This latest dog, a Bichon Frise and poodle mix that was surrendered for being a bad breeder is being cared for in true Home Again style.
The 2-year-old dog will be visiting with groomer Dista Gougen at Critter Comfort and Clips and will be spayed before being placed with a new family. Burstyn says she hopes the little white dog will end up with an older person and maybe even someone who travels south in the winter. Lily 2 is not used to the cold weather and is dressed in a bright sweater for the trip in to the newspaper office. Shes a calm, relaxed lap dog that like so many rescue animals, is making up for lost cuddle time.
Each of these animals is a soul, Burstyn says of the animals in the calenda
