ChristopherX20Great show on tuesday night at the powerstation in NZ by Kitty,Daisy & lewis,my 2nd now,the first back on january 16th 2011.I still wish i had seen a december 15th or 16th 2009(first shows in NZ)show too,dam regret that.Anyway back to the show,the whole family band played great on all the songs.

Again realy enjoyed the drumming of kitty,daisy and lewis,all own styles and great.Also kitty and daisy and lewiss singing was super,and lewis and kitty guitar playing aswell,realy all the instrument playing,piano,banjo etc...

And great to hear i think most or all of the new album too,and of course songs from the first album aswell.I did miss hearing the lap steel and ukulele,conga playing on honolulu rock-a roll-a,swinging hawaii though,maybe next time?.I think the crowd was larger this time too,sell out next time i would hope?.And this time two encores aswell,lucky i did not leave to quickly on that one.Anyway will be back for the next KDL gig for sure,next year? as think kitty said.

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Take a look at 29-year-old Steven Andrews Facebook page and youll learn hes been playing bagpipes since the age of 4; he served in the Navy; he has a pilots license; and he has beekitty picturesn part of the Dunedin community since 1992. Since September, hes been volunteering as a Drum Major at Dunedin Middle School and Dunedin High School.

What you wont see is Andrews arreston three counts of ual performance by a child.

Oh, my God, says Dunedin High School Senior Joey White. Pinellas Sheriffs deputies say Andrews paid his girlfriends 12-year-old sister $100 to dress up in costumes such as Alice in Wonderland, Hello Kitty, a pink cougar, and a pirate. Deputies say he then tied and gagged her and took pictures.

They say when Andrews didnt pay, the girl she told her mother. The incidents happened in a home in north Pinellas County. When deputies searched the home, they found a box of spandex items.

Oh, my God, thats a huge a shock to me. Steven Andrews was always around, says White. Always been something about Steve everyone noticed, not all there, something different. I never picked up on it. But anything is possible. Hes a nice guy.

Even students who do not know him are just as surprised.

Someone like that should not be around schools, says Sarah Gifford, a senior.

Or around kids, adds Michael Leipold, a freshman.

I think thats nasty, not right. [Do] not touch little girls like that, says Amy Towle, a sophomore.

When we did a Google search of Andrews email address, we found it appears on a website that contains materials related to bondage.

White says, I guess everyone has a dark side. It came out. Its a shame.

Pinellas school district officials say a background check on Andrews turned up clean. Since his arrest, district officials have suspended his volunteering privileges.

The Childrens Nest Day School in Tampa hired Andrews less than three weeks ago to oversee elementary school kids after school. Tripp Crouch says Andrews acted professionally. We did a background check and nothing came up. He had military service, had a purple heart, worked at a VPK, worked at other schools as a volunteer, on paper appeared to be a fine candidate with no red flags, says Crouch.

Since learning of his arrest, Andrews has been fired from the day school.

Andrews is being held at the Pinellas County jail on a $75,000 bond.

Lucian Freuds portraits are highly impressive, with hints of the mysterious and the miraculous – yet the artists biggest influence, perhaps, was Samuel Beckett

Lucian Freud’s death last July, aged 88, means that the National Portrait Gallery’s long-gestated show of his portraits has taken on the aura of a memorial. Collectively its 100-plus pictures portray Freud’s unconventional coterie of friends, acquaintances and family, including various wives and mistresses, several of his many illegitimate children, a handful of lords and ladies, a dodgy bookmaker and a bank-robber.

The people in my life, the artist called them; but they were also the people through whom he expressed his own uneasy conception of life. The whole show might even be seen as a composite self-portrait.

The display also includes a number of actual self-portraits, the earliest from 1943. Clutching a mysterious feather in his left hand, while gesturing enigmatically with his right, the jug-eared young Lucian wears a dark jacket with matching bootlace tie and stares into space with a glassy-eyed expression. Surreal yellow icebergs drift at his feet; a cartoon bird and a stick-figure man peer from the windows of an otherwise untenanted house.

In 1946 Freud painted himself again, this time asMan with a Thistle. It’s hard to say which is spikier, man or thistle. The plant’s spines are rhymed in the knifepoint of the artist’s shirt-collar and the razor-sharp curls of his hair. The look in his eyes suggests an extreme, nervy wariness.

InInterior with Plant, Reflection Listening (Self-Portrait), 20 years later, he would again associate himself with barbed foliage, cupping an ear and peeping out from between the spiked fronds of a riotously thriving houseplant.

Born in Berlin in 1922, the artist left for London aged 10 to escape the murderous attentions of the Nazis. His early portraits, especially those of his first wife, Kitty Garman, are hypnotisingly insecure. Done in a sharp, linear style that recalls Flemish early-Renaissance painting, they’re reminiscent of the portraits of Jan Van Eyck, but suffused with a profound anxiety. The sitter’s hair crackles with electrical energy, suggesting the turmoil of her thoughts.

Her eyes are unnaturally enlarged and she stares out and away from the rooms in which she’s confined, as if on the lookout for danger. The refugee painted his wife as if she were one too.

Stylistically, Freud might be said to have begun at one end of the spectrum of Western painting and moved towards the other – from Van Eyck towards the later, more painterly likes of Rembrandt and Velazquez.

Gradually he became more interested in flesh and less in the gaze alone. There is an element of conscious contrivance about many of the later portraits, which focus so closely on the mute, mortal bodies of those who submitted to his many months of sitting. He compares one model’s breasts to a pair of hard-boiled eggs on a plate, and another’s spreading gut to a split sofa disgorging wads of stuffing. People here are accumulations of matter.

Freud enjoyed teasing his audience with hints and half-suggestions. Men and women, huge and emaciated, are arranged in splayed or pole-axed poses, like ancient Christian martyrs. Yet the milieu is always the same mundane painter’s studio: a place which, with its small quota of never-changing props (the iron-framed bed, bulging sofa, pile of painter’s rags), brings to mind the pared-down set ofWaiting for Godot.

Life, these pictures imply, is a waiting-room for death. Sometimes the light plays tricks but the truth will always out. In the final room, one bearded model, vulnerable and naked as a Man of Sorrows, resembles a modern Christ. Of course he is no such thing, just a man posing on some bare West London floorboards.

The border between enchantment and disenchantment is always breached. There are traces here of the magical, the mysterious, the uncanny, but there are no actual miracles – save, perhaps, the miracle of each individual’s inimitable, human presence.

DUNEDIN &8212; In a 2008 MySpace blog, Steven J. Andrews listed 20 facts about himself, including several that humorously strived to explain why he and others described him as weird.

Andrews wrote about his hobby of drumming and bagpiping. Describing himself as a one-time kindergarten teacher, he said he loved working with children and wanted a few of his own someday.

Then there was No. 14 on the list. It and other postings on the social networking profile detailed Andrews weakness for females in spandex.

On Tuesday, Andrews was arrested after authorities discovered he had taken ually explicit photos of a 12-year-old girl &8212; some of them shkitty picturesowing her dressed in full-body spandex or bound and gagged, according to reports.

Police say Andrews, a volunteer at Dunedin Highland Middle and Dunedin High schools who also worked briefly at a Tampa day care center, paid the girl to pose in various costumes, including Hello Kitty and a butterfly.

Detectives said they believe Andrews also volunteered at Berkeley Preparatory, a Tampa private school for students in prekindergarten through grade 12. School officials didnt immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

Andrews, 29, of 426 Roanoke St. in Dunedin, was arrested at his home Tuesday night on three counts of ual performance by a child.

Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Thane Covert set Andrews bail Wednesday morning at $75,000.

Pinellas County sheriffs deputies say their investigation revealed that Andrews paid the child$100 to model various outfits at a North Pinellas home at least three times between August and February. He then bound and gagged the girl and took pictures of her, which police said he kept for his personal use.

After Andrews arrest, authorities recovered from his shorts pocket a thumb drive containing about 100 photos of the girl, including 20 in which she was bound. Deputies said Andrews admitted he looked at the photos while masturbating.

The photos themselves with the various costumes by themselves would not have constituted a crime, said Pinellas sheriffs spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda. What made it to the level of a crime was that she was posed in a position where she was bound and gagged.

Detectives said the incident came to light Sunday, after the girl complained to her mother that she had not been paid for a recent photo session. The mother contacted authorities.

Andrews was introduced to the girl through his girlfriend. The alleged crime, Barreda said, was not directed in any way toward anyone at the schools. It wasnt connected to the schools, other than he was a volunteer there.

However, detectives fear there may be other victims because of Andrews access to minors.

In addition to his volunteer role at the two Dunedin schools and perhaps at Berkeley Prep, he had recently gotten a job as a part-time after-school teacher at Childrens Nest Day School in Tampa. Officials at the day care center, which takes children ages 1 to 11, said Andrews had only been employed there for 17 days and had missed several days of work before his arrest.

Andrews and a second teacher assisted each other in the centers elementary-age latchkey program, said area director Tripp Crouch. He said the school found out about the arrest Wednesday morning and immediately terminated Andrews employment.

No one has contacted us &8230; so were &8212; knock on wood &8212; confident that theres no issue, Crouch said.

Pinellas County school officials say Andrews has volunteered since September with the bands at Dunedin Highland Middle and Dunedin High. Andrews passed the districts formal volunteer screening process, which included a check of his criminal history, said district spokeswoman Melanie Marquez.

Upon his arrest, his privileges as a volunteer have been immediately suspended, Marquez said.

Andrews has no prior arrests in Florida.

His Facebook page also claims he worked as a kindergarten teacher and assistant principal for Highland Christian School between August 2003 and August 2006.

Ohanarama is a social-networking site that encourages children ages 5-12 to interact not just with other kids but to trust adults, too.

)Some of the childrens social-networking sites that are out there make a big deal out of being for kids only, as if allowing kids and grownups to interact is inherently dangerous. Its not. If it were dangerous for kids to be around adults, they would never be around teachers, coaches, or even family members. The issue isnt who kids are hanging out with, but how they are treated by them and how they behave around them.

Of course, we dont want our young children to be hanging out online with random strangers, but I think its a great idea for them to be able to interact with family members and other trusted kids, teens, and adults, including family friends. Thats why Imin favorof Facebook finding a way to admit children under 13, though I know it will be a challenge for the company to do so in a way that isolates kids from marketing hype and potential privacy intrusions. And it would have to comply withCOPPA (PDF)--the Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act that makes it a federal requirement for parents to provide verifiable consent before allowing children under 13 to provide personal information to commercial online services.

Despite a recentcommentby Mark Zuckerberg that Facebook should admit pre-teens, people inside the company have assured me that its not going to happen any time soon.

But theres no need to wait for Facebook. There is a new site that does encourage younger children to interact with family members--including older family members and friends.Ohanarama, which entered public beta last month is a COPPA-compliant site designed to bring children ages 5-12 together with other children and adults they trust. The goal of the free site is to connect families around the world with a social, fun, all-inclusive online experience.

The site, which has received $1.5 million in funding from Softbank Capital and Contour Venture Partners, provides games, quizzes, contests, and other activities for kids and their families. Parekitty picturesnts have the option of using their Facebook credentials (via Facebook Connect) when setting up an account. Your Facebook profile picture becomes your Ohanarama photo, but you can also select an avatar that you can design on the site. There will be other connections between Ohanarama and Facebook (such as apps that enable interaction between adults on Facebook and kids on Ohanarama), but kids using the site will not be directly exposed to Facebook.

Games that run on the site have an identified educational category and skill, by grade, that conforms to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and National Council of Teachers of English standards, according to the company.

Extended families

Once a parent has set up an account, he or she can then add additional family members, including kids, aunts, grandparents, siblings, cousins, or even a family friend. That sure makes sense to me. When I was a kid I had an Aunt Kitty who wasnt actually a blood relative but was a very close friend of the family. If there had been social networking back then, I would have definitely wanted to friend my aunt by association.

Ohanarama is a nicely crafted site and worth a visit for anyone who has kids under 13.
