I recently had tea with a young friend of mine who commented on my melon coloredHorny Toad hoodie, she said, Wow you look like a college kid. Hmm? I thought hoodies were a classic, I mean a long as they dont have a logo like Hollister why not? Im happy to look my own age but perhaps I truly dont see myself. I confess I love pink AND purple, I love stickers of unicorns and rainbows. I also really really want Santa to bring me the Hello Kitty Rice cooker I saw at the Asian Mart near Belmont and Kimball. Oh it is so cute! I concur I wear skinny jeans with bkitty stickerslue sequin Chuck Taylors. Why? Because I am truly truly outrageous. Id like to think that a grown woman can be wise, centered, pay her own rent also have room in her heart for Hello Kitty!
I once overheard a woman shopping at Filenes Basement say to her friend, No matter how old I am I will always shop in Juniors. The juniors section isnt just for the young-at-heart but also the broke-in-wallet and those of us who are also petite. Of course, I see gorgeous clothes in the windows of Anne Taylor I just cant afford a $150.00 sweater, thats like my clothing budget for a whole season.
Im really feeling this post because I turned 41 last month and 2012 is almost here. Im in a period of noting what is working for me and what is not. I have grown a lot spiritually and I admit I am cleaning out my closet and getting rid of things that do feel too young even for me. I dont feel right wearing colorful feather earrings. I
